The souped-up G-Wagen will eat a hefty chunk off your bank account but promises plenty of bang for the buck.

For this kind of money, buyers get the boxy off-roader fitted with an AMG beating heart. More precisely, a 4.4-liter bi-turbo V8 engine making 577 hp and 627 lb-ft of twist. Backed by these figures, the 2019 Merc-AMG G 63 clears the 0-60 mph interval in just 4.5 seconds.

Lending a hand during those pedal-to-the-floor moments is AMG’s SPEEDSHIFT TCT 9-speed transmission.

Mercedes says the AMG G 63 will be available in the United States from early 2019, but if you’re not willing to wait that much and still own a V8-powered G-Class you might want to have a look at the G 550, which is currently on sale.
