Replaces previous E400, gains new 362 hp engine

Mercedes has updated its US E-Class range for the 2019 model year and aside from the usual year-on-year tweaks and changes these updates bring, it’s also introduced a new engine under the E450 designation.

The unit is a 3.0-liter V6 with 362 hp (33 more hp than before), while torque is also up by 15 lb-ft to 369 lb-ft compared to the previous E400 which this replaces. The power plant can be had with standard rear- or optional 4Matic all-wheel drive and is available for all current available body styles.

No word on efficiency or pricing, though, as Mercedes says it will provide this information in the fall, closer to the launch.

All US E-Class models will feature several changes, including the introduction of a new Nappa leather-clad three-spoke steering wheel, “that allows the driver to operate all safety assistance systems without ever removing their hands from the steering wheel," two more interior trim options and new 19-inch AMG rims.
