Brabus Gives the Mercedes-Benz E-Class Some Vitamins

The styling and power upgrades are just what the doctor ordered

The aftermarket specialists at Brabus have released details about their tuning program for the latest Mercedes-Benz E-Class sedan.

The elegant saloon sees both styling and engine upgrades from the Bottrop-based company with the result being a sharper appearance and more performance. Brabus has developed two tailor-made aerodynamic kits for the W213 E-Class — one for the standard models or with the Avantgarde and Exclusive packages, and another for the AMG Line grade.

The first aero kit includes a front spoiler that is said to reduce lift on the front axle, thereby improving handling stability at high speeds. Brabus also offers surrounds for the side air intakes, while the rear bumper insert with diffuser and quad exhaust show that the E-Class means business. The catalog includes a rear spoiler for the trunk lid that is responsible for reducing lift on the rear axle at high speeds.

For AMG Line models, Brabus has designed a more aggressive front spoiler that attaches to the lower part of the bumper, with its outer sections shaped like flaps. There are also vertical surrounds for the outer air intakes. At the rear, the diffuser has three vertical fins that optimize airflow, while the four chrome-plated tailpipes add drama (and soundtrack).

Brabus offers Monoblock alloys as well, available in several designs and versions with diameters from 18 to 21 inches. Solutions for the suspension range from sport springs that lower ride height by about 30 mm (1.2 in) to a special control module for models equipped with the Air Body Control air suspension.

Power upgrades are available for the E 200, E 220 d, and E 350 d. The turbocharged 2.0-liter gasoline model in the E 200 is boosted to 221 hp and 330 Nm (243 lb-ft) of torque from 181 hp and 300 Nm (221 lb-ft). The 2.0-liter turbodiesel unit in the E 220 d gets and additional 27 hp and 50 Nm (37 lb-ft), while the 3.0-liter V6 turbodiesel boosts power and torque by 50 hp and 100 Nm (74 lb-ft), respectively. As a result, the tuned E 350 d goes from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.7 seconds and reaches a top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph).
