BMW X4 M40i Battles the Porsche Macan From 0 to 124 MPH

BMW takes on Porsche even in the small SUV segment. Let’s see how the sportiest X4 stands against the top-of-the-line Macan

In the M40i guise, X4 hosts the 3.0-liter I6 engine also found on the M2. Only here it delivers ‘just’ 355 hp, ten units short of the M2. Still, is good for 0 to 60 mph in 4.7 seconds, thanks to the eight-speed ZF ‘box and the superb all-wheel-drive xDrive system.

In the other corner, there’s Porsche’s Macan GTS with a turbocharged 3.0-liter V6, with 360 hp. Mated to a seven-speed PDK dual-clutch transmission, it sprints from a standstill to 60 mph in just 4.4 seconds.

On paper, the Macan is faster in a duel against the M40i, but can it keep its edge in a 0-124 mph sprint? Well, let’s see.
