Land Rover Gives 2017 Discovery Sport New Design Pack and Technologies

Land Rover has announced a series of updates for the 2017 Discovery Sport SUV in the United States

The highlight of the updates is the new Dynamic Design Pack, available on HSE and HSE LUX trim levels. The styling pack brings unique front and rear bumpers with integrated rear tailpipes, black exterior accents, and gloss black 20-inch wheels. The Dynamic Design Pack also includes interior design enhancements such as contrast stitched leather seats and gearshift knob, unique carpet mats, metal finish pedals and center dash side panel finishers.

Separately, the 2017 Land Rover Discovery Sport will also be offered with four new exterior body colors: Silicon Silver, Farallon Black, Carpathian Grey, and Aruba metallic.

Besides the styling upgrades, the new model year Discovery Sport gets a new available Land Rover InControl Touch Pro infotainment system that comes with a larger 10.2-inch touchscreen and intuitive menus. The unit lacks "hard" buttons and has a super-wide 21:9 high-resolution format.

It works together with a high-performance Intel Quad-Core computing and graphics processor paired with a fast Solid State Drive (SSD). The automaker says the system replicates "the look and feel of smartphone apps and allows users to swipe and pinch, just as they would on a tablet."

Other updates include three new available driver assistance systems: Driver Condition Monitor (detects drowsiness), Intelligent Speed Limiter, and Lane Keep Assist.

The 2017 Land Rover Discovery Sport goes on sale in the US from August 2016 with a starting MSRP of $37,695 (excluding a $995 destination/handling charge).
