All-new 2016 Lincoln MKX debuts with new design and optional twin-turbo 2.7L EcoBoost V6
Lincoln’s reinvention continues with the all-new 2016 MKX mid-size crossover SUV. The second-generation Lincoln MKX sports an all-new exterior and interior design inspired by the smaller MKC, a new twin-turbocharged EcoBoost V6 engine and an array of new technologies.
Lincoln describes the new crossover as the most powerful, best-handling, best riding and quietest MKX ever, thanks to the addition of the integral link rear suspension, as well as upgrades to the body structure and chassis components.
The 2016 Lincoln MKX comes equipped as standard with a 3.7-liter V6 engine SAE-rated at 303 hp at 6,500 rpm and 278 lb-ft (376 Nm) of torque at 4,000 rpm. However, customers can also choose the new optional 2.7-liter twin-turbocharged Ti-VCT EcoBoost V6, which is SAE-rated at 335 hp at 5,500 rpm and 380 lb-ft (515 Nm) of torque at 3,000 rpm.
Both engines are mated to a six-speed automatic transmission with push-button shift and SelectShift. The 2016 Lincoln MKX comes as standard with front-wheel drive, with Intelligent All-Wheel Drive being offered as an option.
Available for the 2016 MKX is the adaptive steering – for the first time offered on a Lincoln (electric power-assisted steering is standard). The model also offers the Revel audio system, specifically tailored for the MKX.
Available semi-autonomous features include the first Lincoln implementation of technology designed to help avoid or lessen the severity of some frontal crashes – Pre-Collision Assist with Pedestrian Detection – as well as adaptive cruise control, Lane-Keeping System, Blind Spot Information System, 360-degree camera, cross-traffic alert and more. In terms of safety, the all-new Lincoln MKX earned a 5-Star overall rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
The 2016 Lincoln MKX also offers the Lincoln Drive Control suite of ride-enhancing technologies that customize the driving experience and optimize performance, with drivers being able to select among normal, sport and comfort modes.
The second-generation Lincoln MKX is built at Oakville Assembly Plant in Ontario, Canada, and has a starting manufacturer suggested retail price of $38,995, including destination and delivery charges.
