Mountune Boosts Ford Focus RS to 370 HP, Cuts 0-100 Km/h Time to 4.5 Seconds

The tuned Focus RS reaches 100 km/h from standstill quicker than a manual Porsche 911 Carrera

Engine tuning specialist Mountune has announced a new upgrade for the Ford Focus RS, developed in cooperation with Ford Performance.

The power-boosting kit squeezes 25 hp and 40 Nm of torque from the 2.3-liter turbocharged EcoBoost engine, for a total of 370 hp (375 PS) and 510 Nm (376 lb-ft) of torque. There’s a catch, though. These figures are achieved using a turbo overboost function available for maximum 12 seconds.

Still, that’s enough to cut the 0 to 100 km/h (0-62 mph) time from 4.7 seconds to 4.5 seconds while top speed remains the same at 266 km/h (165 mph). As Mountune points out, the Focus RS reaches 100 km/h from standstill quicker than a manual Porsche 911 Carrera costing more than twice as much — the 911 Carrera goes from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.6 seconds with the manual transmission.

Speaking of costs, the power kit for the Focus RS costs £899 (approximately $1,150) in the UK, but is available in other European markets as well. The package consists of a high-performance air filter, bespoke alloy crossover duct with high-performance silicone hoses, an upgraded air re-circulation valve and revised software tuning for the engine ECU.

Opting for the power kit is convenient and safe, as the component and software upgrade can be fitted by any Mountune-appointed Ford dealer and is covered by the Ford warranty. Fitting the kit takes just 1.5 hours.
