One More Ferrari LaFerrari Will Be Built to Help Italy Earthquake Victims

That makes it 500 LaFerraris

Ferrari CEO Sergio Marchionne announced that the Maranello-based supercar manufacturer will build the 500th LaFerrari, although production officially ended in 2015.

The 950-horsepower hypercar will join the other 499 LaFerraris, but with a noble purpose, that is "to benefit the people of central Italy affected by the earthquake of the 24th of August."

For that to happen, the $1.3 million hybrid Prancing Horse won't go through the usual selling process.

Instead, Ferrari will auction this 500th LaFerrari and the money will be used to help the ones affected by the 6.2-magnitude earthquake that struck Italy last week.

We expect a lot of interest for this last Ferrari LaFerrari, which should translate into substantial proceeds that will ultimately go where they are needed the most. In any case, Ferrari's initiative deserves a round of applause.
