It’s all about the bare carbon finish here
Polestar, now Volvo’s official performance division closed a partnership last year with Cyan Racing and announced it was returning to the World Touring Car Championship. Their entry is the S60 TC1, a serious ground-up racer created specially for the series.
The company first created a TC1 last year and it’s been testing ever since around various tracks; now they’ve assembled a new one, but unlike the first one they made, this one lacks the familiar Polestar blue paint that is used on all of their creations.
Its naked carbon fiber finish has attracted a lot of attention because of the way it makes the car look; had Polestar finished this one blue as well, the scene would have lain dormant and the news that a second TC1 was created would have slipped by most outlets.
As things stand, though, this second S60 TC1 is arguably more eye-catching than the original.
Christian Dahl, Cyan Racing CEO, said the creation of a second car for home turf testing “is a crucial part in our plan for moving forward ahead of 2017. The race cars have not been in Sweden since the first race in April, meaning that no development work has been possible. The test car changes that and we look forward to work further with the new data from the coming tests.”
