Skoda Octavia RS 230 Is the Fastest Production Octavia of All Time

New Skoda Octavia RS 230 proves more power is always a good idea

The proof is the new Skoda Octavia RS 230, a more powerful and focused version of the popular performance vehicle from Mlada Boleslav. Compared with the standard gasoline-powered Octavia RS, the RS 230 has 10 additional horsepower, for a total of 230 PS (227 hp).

Mated to a standard six-speed manual transmission, the updated 2.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engine allows the Octavia RS 230 to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h (0-62 mph) in just 6.7 seconds and to reach a top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph). The acceleration time is 0.1 seconds quicker than the standard petrol-powered Octavia RS, making the RS 230 the fastest production Octavia of all time. The model is also available with a six-speed dual-clutch transmission and can be ordered both in sedan and estate body styles.

The Octavia RS 230 marks a premiere for Skoda, as it’s the first car to feature electronically controlled front axle inter-wheel lock as standard. The system is said to improve speed through corners. The lowered suspension with stiffer springs also improves handling.

Along with the performance upgrades, the Skoda Octavia RS 230 comes with styling tweaks including a black-painted spoiler (on the sedan), new alloy wheels with an exclusive design, as well as a sportier interior.

The Skoda Octavia RS 230 special edition will go on sale in Europe in June 2015.
