DS

DS was developed as the premium brand of the PSA Peugeot Citroën group. It was first introduced in 2009 as a sub-brand of Citroën, with a couple of special DS models.

The name is a reference to the legendary DS model launched in the 1950s, but the letters stand for Different Spirit or Distinctive Series. Since 2015, DS is a distinct brand. In China, DS vehicles have been sold in separate dealerships since 2014. DS models for sale in China are produced by the Changan PSA joint venture based in Shenzhen.

The first model was the DS3, a supermini launched in 2009. It was followed by the compact DS4, and the compact executive DS5 in 2011.
