Ford Shows US-Bound, Revamped EcoSport Subcompact Crossover

If it can make it there, it can make it anywhere!

Subcompact SUVs are rapidly gaining in popularity in the US, and now Ford wants in on the action. However, it hasn’t created a new model in order to enter this niche, so it’s re-revamped the not-so-successful EcoSport and brought it over the pond from Europe.

It’s not yet clear where the Blue Oval will get its supply of North America-approved EcoSports, though, as it assembles the model in Brazil, India, Thailand, Russia and soon in Romania as well; Brazil would be the natural choice, if you ask us.

Ford chose the LA Auto Show to unveil the EcoSport on US soil, where visitors got to see its far less polarizing front fascia design, updated details and improved interior.

Set to reach US showrooms in “early 2018,” US-bound vehicles will come with a choice of two power plants: one 1.0-liter EcoBoost turbo and a 2.0-liter naturally aspirated unit.

Chantel Lenard, ‎executive director, Ford U.S. marketing noted that “More people are choosing to spend their time and money sharing experiences with friends and family instead of buying more stuff. EcoSport fits perfectly into this growing lifestyle. It’s our smallest SUV, packed with features and personality.”
