2016 Kia Forte Koup Gains New Equipment

Kia Motors America has announced minor changes for the Forte Koup for 2016

Sporting equipment upgrades for the new model year, the two-door coupé soldiers on with the same trim levels, EX and SX.

The 2016 Kia Forte Koup EX is powered by a 2.0-liter naturally aspirated gasoline direct injected (GDI) four-cylinder engine delivering 173 hp and 154 lb-ft of torque. The range-topping SX grade features a sportier turbocharged 1.6-liter GDI four-cylinder unit rated at 201 hp and 195 lb-ft of torque.

The SX trim offers a six-speed manual transmission as standard while a six-speed auto with paddle shifters is available as an option. The EX only comes with the six-speed automatic gearbox.

Labeled by Kia as the fun-to-drive two-door version of the Forte sedan and Forte5 hatchback, 2016 Forte Koup rides on a MacPherson strut front suspension while the FlexSteer adaptive steering (standard on the EX trim) gives the driver more control. The three settings (Comfort, Normal, and Sport) vary steering effort at the touch of a steering wheel-mounted button.

Standard features for the EX base trim include 16-inch alloy wheels, remote keyless entry with trunk opener, Rear Camera Display, a sliding center armrest and a cooling glove box.

For 2016, the optional Premium Tech Package adds navigation with HD Radio, power-adjustable heated and cooled driver's seat, heated steering wheel, and dual-zone automatic temperature control with center console rear vents. The package also includes features such as heated front seats, leather seat trim, power sunroof, and push-button start with Smart Key – all carried over from 2015.

In addition to features from the EX trim level, the top SX grade includes push-button start with smart key, UVO eServices telematics, a sport-tuned suspension, 18-inch wheels, larger front brake rotors, LED taillights, and dual exhaust.
