2017 Audi A3 Gets 186 HP 2.0L TFSI Engine with FWD in the U.S.

The more powerful engine replaces the previous generation’s 1.8L turbo

The 2017 Audi A3 Sedan and Cabriolet models are now available with a more efficient engine-transmission combination that also happens to improve performance.

Offered only on front-wheel drive models, the 2.0-liter TFSI turbocharged four-cylinder gasoline engine delivers 186 hp and 221 lb-ft (300 Nm) of torque, an increase of 16 hp and 21 lb-ft over the previous generation A3 1.8T.

The 2017 A3 Sedan and Cabriolet 2.0 TFSI models with front-wheel drive also feature a seven-speed S tronic dual-clutch transmission that contributes to an EPA-estimated 29 mpg (8.1 l/100 km) combined fuel economy rating as well as improved performance. The sedan goes from 0 to 60 mph in 6.6 seconds, 0.6 seconds quicker than the previous model.

Besides the introduction of the new engine and transmission, 2017 Audi A3 models gain a slightly revised exterior that includes a new headlight design and a new front fascia with a wider Singleframe grille.

The 2017 Audi A3 2.0T comes with standard premium features such as leather upholstery, panoramic sunroof for the sedan, dual-zone automatic climate control, xenon plus front lighting with LED DRLs, and LED taillights.

On sale in fall 2016, the refreshed A3 models are priced from $31,200 (Sedan) and $37,600 (Cabriolet). Prices exclude a $950 destination charge.
