2017 Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban Gain Midnight Editions

The big SUVs receive a dark styling treatment and nothing else

What's the easiest way to improve a vehicle's appeal? Paint it black, add dark elements, and hope that customers will rush into dealerships ready to sign big, fat checks.

At least that's what some carmakers do, and Chevrolet makes no exception. The company announced that it is expanding its popular Midnight Editions to the Tahoe and Suburban full-size SUVs, with the two models joining the Silverado, Colorado, Equinox, and Trax as part of the Chevrolet's family of blacked out specials.

Don't expect big upgrades compared to the standard models, though. Offered in two different variants, the Z71 Midnight package and the LT Midnight package, the Midnight Edition Suburban and Tahoe full-size SUVs are only finished in black and add a series of black-painted elements.

These include 18-inch (Z71) and 20-inch (LT) wheels, roof rack cross rails, grille insert, assist steps, and Chevrolet "bow tie" logos. The Z71 Midnight Tahoe also adds Goodyear DuraTrac off-road tires.

Both the LT and Z71 Midnight Edition full-size SUVs include all of the features found on the LT and Z71 trim levels of regular Tahoe and Suburban.

The Midnight Edition Tahoe and Suburban go on sale across the United States in late 2016.
