2017 Hyundai Veloster Value Edition Offers More for Less

Hyundai tries to spice things up a bit as the Veloster nears the end of its life cycle

Launched in 2011, the Veloster is not exactly in its prime. Hyundai is well aware of that, so for the 2017 model year, it is adding a "Value Edition" for its compact hatchback in the U.S. that brings additional features for a more competitive price.

Highlights include a standard six-speed EcoShift Dual Clutch Transmission, 18-inch alloy wheels with 225/40 R18 tires, a panoramic sunroof, 7-inch navigation system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility, as well as a Premium Dimension audio system with eight speakers, external amplifier, and subwoofer.

Other amenities offered by the Hyundai Veloster Value Edition are an automatic climate control system, Blue Link Connected Car System, and Blue Link Remote Start. Bundled together all these features represent a saving of $950, according to Hyundai.

The 2017 Veloster Value Edition can be had with either a naturally aspirated 1.6-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine or a turbocharged 1.6-liter unit. The base unit delivers 132 hp at 6,300 rpm and 120 lb-ft (163 Nm) of torque at 4,850 rpm while the force-fed version produces 201 hp at 6,000 rpm and 195 lb-ft (264 Nm) of torque.

The Veloster Turbo also comes with standard brake-based torque vectoring for better handling.

Prices for the 2017 Hyundai Veloster Value Edition start from $21,350.
