2017 Nissan Sentra SR Turbo Powers into Miami Auto Show

New 188 hp version turns bland model into a slightly more attractive one

Nissan has introduced a sportier variant of its 2017 Sentra at the Miami International Auto Show (September 10-18), the SR Turbo.

Joining the Sentra sedan lineup later this fall, the 2017 Sentra SR Turbo features a new 1.6-liter Direct Injection Gasoline (DIG) turbocharged four-cylinder engine rated at 188 hp and 177 lb-ft (240 Nm) of torque – that's 64 more horsepower and 52 more lb-ft of torque than non-turbo 2017 Sentra.

To cope with the increased power and torque, the new Sentra SR Turbo also gets an enhanced body structure, revised steering, larger front disc brakes, new 6-speed manual or Xtronic CVT with manual mode, and unique suspension tuning. As a result, Nissan says the 2017 Sentra ST Turbo boasts improved handling and ride comfort, as well as better acceleration than the standard 2017 Sentra.

You can recognize the 2017 Sentra SR Turbo on the street thanks to its upgraded aero kit that includes lower body side sill extensions, rear spoiler with integrated LED brake light, chrome exhaust finisher, dedicated 17-inch alloy wheels, and SR Turbo badging. Inside, the model features a sport trim and premium sport cloth seats.

As for the equipment, the 2017 Sentra SR Turbo features a standard power sliding glass moonroof, LED low beam projector headlights with LED accents, fog lights, heated outside mirrors with LED turn signals, heated front seats, a 5.0-inch Advanced Drive-Assist Display (ADAD) and Siri Eyes Free Voice Recognition.

Besides the SR Turbo, the 2017 Nissan Sentra is available in four other grade levels: Sentra S, SV, SR and SL (Xtronic).
