2017 SEAT Leon Cupra 300 Grows Some Muscle, Brains

And so the Leon Cupra becomes the most powerful production model from SEAT

Following the subtle makeover applied to the Leon lineup in October, SEAT has updated the range-topping Leon Cupra as well.

The performance model gets all the enhancements given to the Leon family as well as increased power and torque levels for even more performance.

The 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder gasoline engine has been pushed to 300 PS (296 hp) and 380 Nm (280 lb-ft), accounting for increases of 10 PS and 30 Nm, respectively. The peak torque is now available over a broad range, from 1,800 to 5,500 rpm, resulting in improved drivability.

Naturally, the power and torque bumps translate into improved performance, although SEAT did not disclose the revised acceleration figures.

The Leon Cupra will be offered as an ST estate model as well, with customers able to spec the 4Drive four-wheel drive system and the double-clutch automatic gearbox as well.

The hottest Leon continues to offer an adaptive chassis control (DCC), progressive steering, and an electronic self-locking differential as standard. Drivers can adapt the Leon Cupra's dynamic behavior thanks to the Cupra Drive Profile which offers five modes: Comfort, Sport, Eco, Individual, and Cupra.

Other upgrades include the addition of new driver assistance systems such as Traffic Jam Assist, Lane Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control and Pedestrian Protection. Electric Parking Brake, Keyless Entry, and Engine Start are also available, as is the Media System Plus with an 8-inch touchscreen.

Deliveries of the revised Leon Cupra will start in February 2017.
