2018 Acura TLX Spotted Undisguised While Filming Promo Video

Not quite the Precision Concept, but not bad either

Remember the Precision Concept Acura unveiled at the 2016 Detroit Auto Show? A year later, the first spy shots of the Precision-inspired TLX have emerged.

The upcoming facelifted TLX may not have the Precision’s edginess, but the front fascia (especially the “Diamond Pentagon grille”) is clearly a design cue from the concept car, one borrowed by the 2018 MDX as well. The TLX’s face looks way better now that the chromed beak is gone.

Acura’s mid-size sedan needed an update, one that will be “more premium-brand, performance feeling, and more noticeable,” according to Dave Marek, Acura Global Creative Director.

Being a mid-cycle refresh, don’t expect much change to the chassis and powertrain. The 206-hp 2.4-liter four-cylinder and the 290-hp 3.5-liter V6 are likely to be carried over, although there’s a probability of seeing Honda's new 10-speed automatic 'box mated to the V6 unit. A possible hybrid version would (most likely) carry Honda Accord’s setup: 212 horsepower, and a combined rating of 48 mpg.

The 2018 Acura TLX is expected to make its debut soon, with prices similar to the outgoing version, ranging between $32,950 and $45,850.
