The exterior styling pack is far from extreme but manages to improve the A8’s appearance

For customers who find the all-new Audi A8 a bit underwhelming on the styling front, the automaker has the cure to make the luxury sedan look more dynamic than in standard guise.

From late January 2018, Audi will offer an extended equipment range consisting of a sport exterior package and sport seats.

Starting off with the exterior pack, it consists of an aluminum clip below the Singleframe grille, as well as sharp contours around the air inlets, and a honeycomb pattern for the side air intakes — which also receive a vertical strut.

The changes continue with sharper-looking side sills that grow wider as they approach the wheels, and with a redesigned rear bumper that integrates a rhombus-grille insert and a contrasting diffuser. The tail also features an aluminum strip that echoes the design of the front splitter.

The sport exterior package will go on sale at the end of January with a price of €1,950 for the A8 50 TDI — don't ask us what engine that is, just check out Audi's explanations. Another fresh exterior design option for the A8 is the new Daytona gray exterior color.

Also from late January 2018, customers will be able to order new sport seats with optically integrated head restraints — fitted with electric height adjustment. As with the comfort customized contour seats, the sport seats feature pneumatic side bolster adjustments, as well as climate control and massage functions. However, they're 15-mm (0.6-in) more deeply contoured. With the new seats comes a comfort center armrest at the front.

Customers can choose Valcona and unicum leather upholsteries for the new seats, which also feature a rhombus pattern with square perforations and embossed S logos towards the top of the backrest. Ticking this box on the options list will set buyers back €4,520 — regardless of the engine and body variant they want.

As a reminder, the all-new Audi A8 is available in standard and long-wheelbase configurations, with prices starting from €90,600 for the A8 50 TDI and €94,100 for the A8 L 50 TDI.

If the sport exterior package isn't convincing enough, you might want to take a look at the all-new Audi A7 Sportback.
