2018 Chevrolet Traverse RS offers sportier looks and more equipment for $43,095

And the 257-hp 2.0-liter turbo gasoline engine as standard

Chevrolet has unveiled the sporty RS trim level for the all-new 2018 Traverse that brings a more athletic appearance and more standard equipment. It's also the first grade that offers the 257-hp 2.0-liter turbo-four engine as standard — lower trim levels don't even get it as an option.

Based on the redesigned 2018 Traverse, the RS model is one of six trim levels buyers can have. Unique styling tweaks include a black grille, black window trim, black roof rails, and black bowtie emblems, along with 20-inch aluminum wheels featuring a Dark Android finish.

The 2018 Traverse RS comes standard with the 2.0-liter Ecotec turbocharged four-cylinder gasoline engine that delivers 257 hp and 295 lb-ft (400 Nm) of torque. Ninety percent of the peak torque is available at only 2,100 rpm. Linked to a nine-speed automatic transmission the 2.0-liter engine offers an EPA-estimated fuel economy of 20 mpg in city driving and 26 mpg on the highway.

Besides the styling tweaks and the standard turbo engine, the Traverse RS also features a more comprehensive standard equipment. That includes Chevrolet MyLink radio with 8-inch diagonal color touchscreen and navigation, Multicolor driver information center display, OnStar 4G LTE and available built-in Wi-Fi hotspot, Jet Black leather-appointed seating surfaces, heated front seats, and Bose premium 10-speaker audio system, among other things.

The list of convenience features comprises a tri-zone automatic climate control, power liftgate, Keyless Open with extended-range Remote Keyless Entry, and remote start. Finally, the 2018 Traverse RS also comes fitted as standard with driver assistance systems such as Lane Change Alert with Side Blind Zone Alert, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Rear Park Assist, Surround Vision, Rear Camera Mirror, Rear Seat Reminder, and Teen Driver.

While a base 2018 Traverse starts at just under $31,000, the RS is on sale now from $43,095 (including destination).
