In Germany, the cheapest ST starts at 22,100 euros

At the same time, customers in the UK will have to pay £18,995 (or 21,677 euros) for the base spec called ST-1.

Compared to one of its biggest rivals, the VW Polo GTI, the Fiesta comes out on top when it comes to pricing. The Polo GTI starts at 23,950 euros in Germany and £21,145 in the UK. In terms of power, both cars boast 200 PS or 197 hp.

Compared to the previous generation, the ST has an increase of 17 hp, but it loses the "overboost" function, which allowed the former engine to reach a similar power output. There is, however, a clear gain in terms of torque for the new ST, with an increase from 240 Nm to 290 Nm. Performance is also better, with a sprint from 0-62 mph in 6.5 seconds, which is 0.4 seconds faster than the outgoing model. Top speed for the new car is 144 mph (232 km/h).

In the UK, customers will be able to get the car in three levels of trim. The base ST-1 comes only with a three-door body and has Recaro sports seats, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The next trim called ST-2, which can be bought also with the five-door body, adds automatic climate control, heated front seats, and an 8.0-inch infotainment system, to name only some of the equipment.

The top-range ST-3 trim comes with 18-inch wheels, leather upholstery, adjustable lumbar support, rear parking camera, and automatic high beam. Also, any trim level can be enhanced by the ST Performance Package, that comes with a limited-slip differential, launch control and indicators for shifting gears.
