2018 Ford Mustang brings back the “pony-in-corral” chrome grille

It’s part of the Pony Package that’s only available for EcoBoost-powered models

The facelifted 2018 Ford Mustang is putting the pony back into the corral with an available Pony Package.

Offered exclusively for models equipped with the 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engine, the Pony Package brings back memories thanks to its grille-mounted pony-in-corral badge design — as it was more than 50 years ago.

The badge design first appeared on Mustang in the mid-1960s when the car was still in concept phase. Since then it has appeared in various forms and was las used as part of anniversary package for 2015.

The Pony Package brings more than just the pony-in-corral badge design, though. Other appearance updates include 19-inch polished aluminum wheels, a bright beltline and window trim for the fastback model, side stripes on lower body sides, and a tri-bar pony badge on the rear decklid.

Inside, the 2018 Mustang Pony Package gets carpeted floor mats with Ebony embroidered pony logo.

The 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine has been updated for 2018 getting an unspecified amount of extra torque, as well as a new 10-speed automatic transmission with quicker shift times and better fuel efficiency.

The 2018 Ford Mustang will arrive in U.S. dealerships in October.
