2018 Toyota Supra Circles the ‘Ring Under Heavy Camo Attire

And we’ve seen similar wheel design on the BMW M4 GTS

One of the highly anticipated debuts in the car industry sees two brands working on different sportscars that will share the same underpinnings.

By now, you should know the unusual suspects are BMW and Toyota, together with their so-called Z5 and Supra offsprings.

Previous reports had claimed the two carmakers decided Magna Steyr will handle assembly work in Graz, Austria.

In the meanwhile, BMW quietly called it a day for the Z4 roadster while Toyota officials hinted at the return of the Supra nameplate together with LMP1 hybrid tech making its way inside the sportscar.

Although the extended camo treatment hides the car's shapes and proportions, we can distinguish short overhangs, a sharply sloping roofline, and a discrete rear wing.

The dual exhaust system looks very similar to that of the Toyota GT86, but it could be there just for pre-production testing.

Up front, a closer look at how the camouflage foil falls on the car's nose makes us remember the Toyota FT-1 concept. Don't get your hopes too high just yet, because the production-ready Supra will probably display a milder visage.

Powertrain could consist of a turbocharged six-cylinder petrol unit sourced from BMW, although wild rumors address the possibility of a hybrid setup combining a 2.0-liter turbo engine and two electric motors (one on each axle), for a horsepower tally in the region of 350 hp.
