2018 VW Atlas Gets Sharper R-Line Suit Just in Time for Detroit Auto Show

The R-Line pack brings sportier exterior and interior styling

With the all-new 2018 Volkswagen Atlas going on sale in the United States this spring, the automaker has released details about the optional R-Line design pack.

Available later in the year for the SE and SEL trims, the R-Line package adds styling enhancements for the exterior and interior, with the aim of making the U.S.-made SUV look more dynamic.

Debuting at the Detroit Auto Show, the 2018 VW Atlas R-Line brings exterior styling tweaks including 20-inch alloy twin-spoke wheels, R-Line badging, redesigned bumpers with bigger air intakes at the front and a gloss black diffuser at the rear, as well as more pronounced side skirts.

For the interior, the pack brings minor upgrades such as an R-Line logo on the start screen of the Modular Infotainment Platform (MIB II), R-Line steering wheel clip, and stainless-steel sport pedal covers.

The VW Atlas R-Line will be available with the same engine options as the regular models. These include a 2.0-liter four-cylinder TSI turbo with 235 hp and a 3.6-liter V6 unit with 276 hp. Both engines come standard with an eight-speed automatic transmission, but only V6-powered models get the 4Motion all-wheel-drive system as an option.
