We didn’t really expect anything else, to be honest
Audi’s new 2019 A6 and Q8 SUV have underwent IIHS’ crash testing cycle and managed to pass them with flying colors.
The 2019 Audi A6 was named Top Safety Pick+, but this applies to models fitted with the optional LED Matrix Design headlights with high beam assist.
Its SUV sibling, the new Q8, was named Top Safety Pick, again, when specified with the optional HD Matrix LED package.
According to IIHS, both cars fared “good” in all six crash-related tests and “superior” in Front Crash Prevention trials. As a reminder, a Top Safety Pick+ status needs “good” passenger-side small overlap frontal rating and “good” headlight rating.
Audi’s A6 and Q8 join, therefore, the likes of 2019 Audi A3 and A4, models which also bagged IIHS Top Safety Picks when fitted with standard LED packs during evaluations that took place in December 2018.
