Won’t cross the pond to the US
Ford has announced the availability of a new Focus variant. It’s the 2019 Ford Focus Active, ladies and gents, coming to join the likes of Fiesta Active and KA+ Active.
The Focus Active can be had as both a hatchback and a wagon. It promises a higher ground clearance (30 mm front, 34 mm rear compared to the regular Focus), roof rails and a bespoke chassis configuration, without putting a dent in its driving attributes.
Concretely, you can get the Focus Active with basically every engine available for the non-Active Focus. This means you can choose from a palette of 1-liter and 1.5-liter EcoBoost powerplants delivering up to 182 PS as well as 1.5-liter or 2-liter EcoBlue diesels churning out up to 150 PS.
On the transmission front, Ford offers two units: a six-speed manual and an eight-speed automatic gearbox. Besides the standard driving modes (Normal, Sport and Eco) the Focus Active gets two additional settings, namely Slippery and Trail.
Visually speaking, you’ll be able to set the Focus Active apart from its non-rugged peers via extra plastic cladding up front, on the sides and at the rear. Moreover, Ford says it prepared two new colors for the Focus Active: Metropolis White and Orange Glow.
