Goes on sale in August
Mazda USA has released pricing information for the hardtop Miata. The 2019 MX-5 RF also brings more power and improvements.
Among the highlights of the 2019 Mazda MX-5 Miata RF is the 17 percent power bump over last year’s model. Concretely, we’re looking at a 26 hp and 3 lb-ft increase for a total of 181 hp fully unlocked at 7,100 rpm and 151 lb-ft available at 4,000 rpm.
Mazda says its engineers took a series of measures in coming up with the retuned 2-liter Skyactiv-G engine, tweaks that include lighter pistons and rods as well a larger throttle. In return, the redline was pushed higher up by 700 rpm.[NativeAd]
Customers can have the retuned engine twinned with the standard six-speed manual but an optional six-speed automatic transmission with Sport mode and steering wheel shift paddles is also available.
Per customer request, Mazda fitted the 2019 MX-5 with a tilting and telescoping steering column with 30mm and 40mm of range, respectively. Further add-ons include the likes of a new rearview camera, traffic sign recognition and smart city brake support – the latter is, essentially, a low-speed automatic emergency braking feature.
The same trim levels split the 2019 model year range: Grand Touring and Club.[NativeAd]
The Mazda MX-5 RF Grand Touring features 17-inch dark silver wheels, auto on/off headlights, rain-sensing wipers, auto climate control, heated seats, and a nine-speaker Bose audio setup.
The Grand Touring version can be further equipped with the GT-S Package, but only when the six-speed manual gearbox is present. The pack adds a limited-slip rear differential and Bilstein dampers as well as a hand-painted black roof previously available only on the US-bound Mazda MX-5 RF Launch Edition.
MX-5 RF Club is tailored to include the said Bilstein dampers and rear LSD as standard on the six-speed manual versions. Cabin improvements include heated cloth-covered seats with red contrasting stitching, Metallic Black 17-inch allow wheels, rear lip spoilers, and a front air dam. On demand, customers can also fit their Mazda MX-5 RF Club with the Brembo/BBS pack comprising front Brembo rotors and calipers, red calipers on all four corners, and dark gunmetal BBS forged alloy wheels as well as a rear bumper skirt and leather-upholstered seats.[NativeAd]
The 2019 Mazda MX-5 Miata RF price list starts at $32,345 for the six-speed manual Club model. Should you prefer the automatic, the starting sticker rises to $32,945. The 2019 Mazda MX-5 Miata RF Grand Touring starts at $33,335 (that’s the six-speed manual model), while the automatic version will require at least $34,410. The GT-S Package is priced at $750, while the Brembo/BBS bundle will ask for another $3,770.
