The wheels are starting to spin for the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi alliance

Just a couple of weeks after Renault announced the Alliance’s electrification masterplan, rumors on the upcoming Clio hatchback mention Level 2 autonomous driving and a mild hybrid setup.

According to Autocar quoting Jean-Christophe Kugler – executive vice president and chairman of Renault Europe – the next-generation Renault Clio will mix hybrid bits and bobs with self-driving abilities.

The same media outlet argues that the new Clio could inherit the Hybrid Assist powertrain found inside the Mégane and Scenic, but nothing has been officially confirmed at the time of writing. What's more, there aren't any hints towards a plug-in hybrid configuration for the time being.

Also on the new Clio topic, previous reports talked about Renault considering a hi-tech interior for its supermini, one that would offer plusher materials and a tablet-like infotainment screen oriented horizontally.
