Toyota didn’t get greedy with the mechanical bits and bobs, that’s for sure
Toyota wants to change the pickup game with the 2019 Tundra TRD, 2019 4Runner TRD and 2019 Tacoma TRD Pro. Here's what arsenal of features will help these pickup trucks achieve that.
Firstly, every model nominated above gets Fox shocks – like those Ford fitted under the F-150 Raptor – plus three new body colors: Super White, Midnight Black Metallic and Voodoo Blue.
As far as the 2019 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro is concerned, it gets – besides the 2.5-inch Fox shocks front and rear – a new skid plate and chrome tip for the cat-back exhaust. Besides the TRD badging, the pickup's exterior receives a visual boost courtesy of LED DRLs and fog lights and blackened taillights, together with a new air intake that feeds the 278 hp, 3.5-liter V6 during muddy or dusty off-road sessions.
LED lighting is also in store for the 2019 Tundra TRD Pro, plus a new hood scoop and more TRD Pro badges. As for the 2019 4Runner TRD Pro, Toyota added a new roof rack, skid plate and 17-inch matte-black alloys wrapped in Nitto Terra Grappler A/T tires.
On the safety side, Toyota tells us all three pickup trucks get the brand's Star Safety System. The suite includes vehicle stability control, traction control, ABS, EBD and brake assist. The Toyota Safety Sense P package – standard on the Tundra and Tacoma – adds features like pre-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic high beam and a radar-based cruise control setup.
Expect the 2019 Toyota Tundra, 4Runner and Tacoma TRD Pro to reach showrooms in fall of 2018.
