A Gallardo Tricolore has nothing on this twin-turbocharged Golf Mk6

This Golf is not your typical family hatchback

Owning a Volkswagen Golf that's powerful enough to smoke a Lamborghini is an absolute satisfaction (we guess), but getting a Volkswagen Golf to this level of performance is not easy at all.

In this clip, a Gallardo PL550-2 Tricolore is losing ground, after a rolling start, to a Golf VI prepped by the German studio HGP.

HGP offers different stages of power for the Golf Mk6, with the extreme one involving swapping the four-pot for a 3.6-liter VR6 (from the Passat R36), that’s been previously twin-turbocharged. The final power figure is around 735 hp. Not as mind-blowing as Boba’s extreme Golf MkII, but impressive nevertheless.

And if you thought the rolling start was in the Golf's advantage, take a look at this HGP-prepped model taking off. As it seems, it has not only the engine taken from the R36, but the all-wheel-drive system as well.
