BMW Repaints the 2002 Hommage Concept, Calls it Turbomeister in Pebble Beach

Timeless design they say

With the risk of being contradicted by some of you, I'll say it: few carmakers do tribute concepts better than BMW. But it's also safe to say the brand's history helps a lot.

In fact, the Bavarians are so good at it, they didn't even have to rebuild the whole thing from scratch.

All BMW had to do was paint the 2002 Hommage orange and black and apply the Turbomeister decals the same way they did with the Jaggermeister livery back in the 70s, when the real 2002 Turbo was adding victories under its belt.

Having déjà-vus? That's only normal because, in essence, you're looking at the same car presented in May at the Villa d'Este Concorso d'Eleganza. As you might remember, the car is based on a BMW M2, so the idea of a 365-horsepower straight-six engine spinning the rear wheels is a bundle of joy.

Here's Karim Habib, Head of Design at BMW, describing the motivation behind the 2002 Hommage:

'The BMW 2002 Hommage celebrates the extraordinary feats of engineering on which BMW turbo technology is based and re-interprets them in the form of a design study. With its iconic orange/black paintwork, the car has a color scheme and livery synonymous in the minds of many motorsport fans with the triumphs of the 1970s.'
