We’ve been expecting a slightly different outcome
There is an impressive lot of powerful SUVs on sale today and Jeep Trackhawk is on top of the list.
Packing 707 hp and 645 lb-ft (875 Nm) of torque the Trackhawk is the most powerful production SUV money can buy. It can launch to 60 mph in 3.5 seconds, and it costs around $87.000.
The BMW X6 M is, well, not that quick. At 4.4 liters, the M-badged V8 unit is way smaller than Trackhawk's (which boasts a 6.2-liter V8); plus, the X6 M has a mere 567 hp and 553 lb-ft (750 Nm) of torque. It's also half a second slower than the Jeep.
And the weight difference is a mere 160 pounds (72 kilos) in BMW's favor but that can't cover the 140 horsepower handicap the German has. Seeing the Jeep win won't surprise anyone at this point; what's surprising is the time difference at the end.
OK, the Jeep is as quick off the line as you'd expect, but can it outrun a Tesla?
