BMW X7 concept to debut in Frankfurt with hydrogen fuel cell powertrain

Munich’s largest SUV is looking to the future

Rumors about the upcoming BMW X7 have splashed on the Internet in all shapes and sizes, but if recent reports are right, a concept previewing the production X7 will take the stage in Frankfurt.

With only one month left before the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show opens its gates, carmakers – German ones in particular – are rallying to assemble a noteworthy stand. After all, it's their home turf.

According to BMWBlog, BMW will bring a concept-stage X7 which is said to feature a "fuel cell drivetrain," claim unnamed sources.

Currently in the R&D phase, the BMW X7 won't reach the market until early 2019, with assembly works taking place at BMW's plant in Spartanburg, South Carolina. The X7 will sit above the BMW X5 and will offer actual seven-seat capabilities.

The X7 topic has been a hot one in recent months as there've been reports claiming the seven-seater could be eligible for a performance version. Follow the link to read more about the potential BMW X7 M here.
