Callaway Crams Another 100 HP Inside the Camaro ZL1

Just to put the SRT Hellcat’s nose out of joint

The red brute you are looking at in the pictures above is the 2017 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1, a $62,135 V8-powered muscle car packing 650 hp.

I’d say it’s not about the power, but also about the 0-60 mph sprint checked in 3.5 seconds, courtesy of a smart traction control unit; or about the ability to hold 1.02 lateral Gs on the skidpad before throwing its muscular rear on the side.

But pull the ZL1 alongside an SRT Hellcat, and any of the arguments above becomes invalid. Fortunately, there’s hope for the Camaro owners struggling with the SRT bullies; it is called Callaway and it doesn’t necessarily come cheap.

For $17,995, Callaway can add an extra 100 hp to the 6.2-liter V8's power output, for a total of 750 hp. Take that, Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat with your lousy 707 hp!

And if the Callaway name rings a bell, it's probably because of their AeroPack conversion. Callaway can transform your cool Corvette coupé into the coolest Corvette shooting brake (but only the C7 and Z06 qualify). Here's more info.
