It’s so beautiful it hurts

Most Corvette enthusiasts would be happy to own any of the sports car's seven generations in stock form.

But some people are only into very rare Vettes, and that's the group targeted by this stunning C1, better known as the Centurion.

Offered at Barrett-Jackson's Scottsdale 2018 auction in mid-January next year the Centurion is a custom C1 Corvette built by Fiberfab. If you haven't heard of this company, it was a custom car builder founded in 1964 that was known for quality engineering and advanced production techniques.

Fiberfab designed and built the Centurion in 1965-1966, taking inspiration from Bill Mitchell's original 1959 XP-87 Stingray concept car and racer.

Based on a 1958 Corvette chassis, the Centurion is powered by a Rochester fuel-injected 283-ci (4.6-liter) V8 engine mated to a four-speed manual transmission sourced from a 1962 Corvette and a 4.11:1 posi-traction rear axle.

The car comes with the original Fiberfab body identification number tag 12616, as well as its initial chassis VIN tag. The Centurion is also listed in the C1 Corvette Registry and is eligible for the Monterey Historic Races.

Freshly restored, the custom C1 Corvette sports a striking Inca Silver body color with a matching silver leather upholstery inside, but the dual headrest fairings on the rear deck are the car's main highlight. It even comes with a trunk and a spare-tire compartment.

We have no estimate on pricing, but we do know that Barrett-Jackson will offer the car with no reserve. If this car doesn't stir up a bidding war, we don't know what will.
