Citroen Previews Sporty, Electric Future With E-Tense Concept In Geneva

Citroen’s DS brand has gained its first concept that doesn’t also wear a dual chevron badge

Citroen’s DS brand has gained its first concept that doesn’t also wear a dual chevron badge. Called E-Tense, it previews the now standalone DS brand’s future, hinting at a sporty direction and an emphasis on electric or electrified powertrains.

Its shape is clearly that of a mid-engined sports car, yet there is no conventional fossil fuel-burning power plant in sight. It relies on an unspecified number of electric motors whose power outputs all add up to 402 hp, with a torque figure of 516 Nm.

The styling is reminiscent of what you see in the firm’s current road cars, but it’s been worked over to look sleeker and more modern. The sharp front end is where this evolution is most visible, and there’s a definite Lexus vibe about that big grille surrounded by LEDs.

DS won’t make this car, but they did admit to it inspiring the look of its future road cars, as per the official press blurb. It reads “DS E-TENSE perfectly encapsulates the brand’s stylistic and technological vision, pointing towards the DS brand’s future with its high-performance electric powertrain.”
