Consumer Reports takes the 2018 Chevrolet Traverse SUV for a spin

Will the redesigned Traverse impress?

Can the 2018 Chevrolet Traverse shake off challenges from the likes of Ford Explorer, Honda Pilot or Toyota Highlander? Consumer Reports set off to discover just that.

According to Chevy, the 2018 Traverse SUV is better at everything, whether it's technology, fuel economy or material quality you're inquiring about.

Two powertrains define the Traverse range: a 3.6-liter V6 (305 hp) mated to a nine-speed automatic gearbox is the standard choice, but laidback customers looking to tend their budget can go for the smaller, 2.0-liter Ecotec four-cylinder turbocharged mill (255 hp).

Despite taking a couple of steps towards the concept of modern car, the Traverse remains a heavy vehicle – an aspect also pointed out in the video below.

But we don't like spoilers, so we don't do spoilers, which means you'll have to find out CR's verdict by yourself.

Oh, and here's how much a new 2018 Chevrolet Traverse will set you back.
