Although you can’t see as much of it as you can in the hardtop model
The topless Ferrari 488 lacks the coupe’s transparent rear screen that allows you to see its engine, which is a pity as it’s one sexy looking unit. However, you can change that if you get one of these custom engine covers by Capristo.
The company also made one for the 488 Spider’s predecessor, the 458, and this latest piece is very similar to that one. However, even with fitted, you can’t really see as much of the engine as you could in the hardtop; this is due to the folding hardtop roof mechanism taking up extra space behind the seats.
Even so, it’s finished in shiny carbon fiber and it most certainly doesn’t look out of place as a replacement for the factory hood. You could go for a more restrained look by painting the carbon bits the same color as the car you’re fitting it to, but we say there’s nothing wrong with showing a bit of bare carbon.
