Donkey bites orange McLaren, does €30,000 in damages

One confused donkey in Germany took a bite out of a McLaren 650S

It does sound like a joke, but to an unsuspecting McLaren owner it turned out to be quite a reality.

In a court case in the city of Gießen, the owner of a bright orange 650S is asking for damages made by a donkey to his car to be covered by the insurance company, writes The Local.

Last year, on September 15th, Markus Zahn parked his €300,000 ($360,000) supercar in a car park near a paddock in the state of Hesse. One donkey, named Fitus, who was grazing at the time, must have confused his car for a giant carrot and took a bite out of it.

After running some errands in the area, the unlucky owner returned to the car only to spot a pair of fluffy ears in his rear wing-mirror, as he told jokingly to a journalist from the German newspaper Bild.

Before managing to scare off the animal the damage was done, €30,000 ($36,000) worth of it, more precisely. Zahn took everything in good humor and said he is not mad at the confused donkey. The McLaren garage was kind enough to cover most of the damage, but Zahn still had to pay €6,000 ($7,200).

He is now seeking compensation from Fitus’ owner's insurance. The insurer has thus far refused to pay out, claiming that Zahn is to blame because it was his choice to park there. On September 28th, Gießen district court will announce who is liable. Fitus is not expected to appear in court.

Fitus is definitely not the only animal with an attitude. Australian kangaroo does not like being overtaken, fights back.
