Epic 840-hp Dodge Demon vs 590-hp Tesla Model S P100D battle is too close to call

Demon

The drag strip is full of surprises. Also, Hennessey might have the right answer

This should be a one-sided battle, but reality kicks in and it kicks hard

The Dodge Demon has one favorite playground: the drag strip. Its official time of 2.3 seconds for the 0-60 mph sprint run is often even faster, so Tesla's P100D Ludicrous' time of 2.5 seconds for the same feat, combined with the lack of some 250 hp, should get only one result: the electric car should lose every time on the quarter mile.

However, things are not as simple as that in the real world. Quick reaction times can make the difference, as can mechanical problems or bad shifting. When things are so close, nobody can predict the final outcome. Case in point (the race begins at around 4 minutes in the video, but also check out the other competitors to come!):

Anyway, the sheer sound of the Demon made us happy. It's fine to see two awesome cars, from two completely different worlds, competing neck-to-neck for our pleasure. You can compare their specs here.

If you're still here, there's also Hennessey's HPE1000 Dodge Demon, already breaking records: how about 9.38 sec for the quarter mile at 146.7 mph, and 0-60 mph in 1.93 sec? Yeah, how about that?
