Nissan Micra and Suzuki Swift get one extra star each with the optional safety pack
Results are in from Europe’s crash, smash and rate commission also known as the Euro NCAP. Skoda Kodiaq, Mini Countryman, Nissan Micra and Suzuki’s Swift are the latest models to undergo the safety tests.
Scoring high in Euro NCAP’s crash tests were the freshly launched Skoda Kodiaq SUV and Mini Countryman. Both models earned five stars, with excellent ratings for both adult and adult occupant protection levels. The Kodiaq also scored high in the pedestrian protection evaluation, coming out with a 71% rating.
Nissan’s new Micra supermini only managed four out of five stars due to low safety assist levels. However, with the optional safety pack, pedestrian protection rises to 79% while safety assist ratings take a hike from 49% to 72%.
The Suzuki Swift completes the batch with a three-star rating dictated by a safety assist rating of just 25%. Just like in Micra’s case, the optional safety pack bumps safety assist credential to 44%, bringing the overall safety score to four stars out of five for the Swift supermini.
