Ex-F1 racer Mark Webber does track driving audition for The Grand Tour show

The presenting trio is not pleased with his performance, though

The Grand Tour won’t be using The American to track test cars in its second season (out December 8), so it’s started looking for a replacement. Their first interviewee for the position was former Aussie F1 driver Mark Webber who is asked to do some track driving to prove his abilities for the job.

However, after a good first outing in a Porsche 911 GT2 RS, Webber for some reason can’t quite match the performance in an AMG GT. The show’s presenting trio, two of which feign not knowing Webber, are in the end not satisfied with his performance and give him the classic “don’t call us, we’ll call you” speech after he completes the tryout.

So at the moment, nobody is The Grand Tour’s track driving god and they’re looking for one. But who would you propose? Rowan Atkinson? Ben Collins? If you check the comments for the Mark Webber video, it seems the vast majority of people want the Stig back… somehow.
