Looking to buy a Mitsubishi L200 pickup with a different badge, then Fiat has the vehicle you’re looking for
If, for some reason, you want to buy a Mitsubishi L200 pickup but with a different badge, then Fiat has the vehicle you’re looking for. Called Fullback, it’s nothing more than a skin-deep alteration of the Japanese model, a very restrained one at that – it’s limited to the grille at the front, really, and the badges too.
It also retains the L200’s 2.4-liter four-pot diesel engine with unchanged power outputs of either 150 or 180 hp. Transmission options are either a six-speed manual or self-shifter.
Hop inside and you will immediately notice the unchanged L200 dashboard and even the steering wheel is identical (bar the badge). Manufacturers, even when they co-develop and build a model such as this, usually bring their own wheel, interior detailing and some trim changes, yet this seems to be exactly the same as the Mitsubishi.
The model will debut in showrooms throughout Europe towards the end of April, where its American sports-derived name will definitely need explaining – it’s “derived from the cornerstone position in rugby and American football.”
