Ford: 69 Percent of New GT Supercar Buyers Owned Previous Model

Just 500 units will be made in total, at a rate of 250 per year

It seems that the reborn previous-gen Ford GT won a lot of fans as 69 percent of those who bought the first model have signed up for the all-new one.  On top of that, some 87 percent of those who’ve ordered one own some kind of Ford model.

The information was made public by the Blue Oval’s Executive VP for Product Development and the firm’s CTO, Raj Nair. He spoke to @FordOnline about the new turbocharged GT and how out of all the 6,500+ applications they received, they had to narrow it down to a smidgen of just 500.

Nair said that they were very humbled by the number of people interested in buying a GT, but as he put it, they “tried to be as gracious as possible with loyal customers,” which is how the lucky 500 were selected. He also insisted that GT customers are “strong ambassadors” for the brand and that they will receive treatment “as distinct as the car itself.”
