Ford Teases Next Fiesta ST by Driving it Through a Factory

Sounds like it could have a three-pot turbo under its bonnet

Ford will be dropping the curtain on the all-new 2017 Fiesta ST tomorrow, but until it does, we’re left to ponder whether or not it will feature a three- not four-cylinder turbo engine. Its styling and design we can intuit looking at the standard Fiesta in ST Line trim (pictured below), but what we can’t predict is what exactly will be powering it.

It’s definitely not going to be less powerful than the 180 or 200 hp car it’s set to replace, but the vehicle in the teaser video posted below we’re pretty sure sounds like a three-pot. We could obviously be wrong in making this assumption, but that exhaust note doesn’t really sound like a four-pot.

Ford did show a 200+ hp version of the 1.0-liter EcoBoost a few years ago, but it was only used in a Formula Ford single-seater. In that application, it sounded like a force-fed V6 with massive turbo whine on top, and the car in the teaser is not a million miles away from that.

We’ll see if our prediction was wrong or not tomorrow when the vehicle will get its official online reveal.
