Test mules are already tackling the Nürburgring
Part of Volkswagen’s upcoming portfolio comprising 19 crossovers, the T-Roc baby SUV won’t come to the market with sporty claims. But a T-Roc R version might change that.
With the CUV segment beginning to look like a can of sardines, it doesn’t even matter anymore if a particular model makes sense or not. Hence the rumors saying Volkswagen is working on an R-badged T-Roc, recently backed up by a set of spyshots.
According to Autocar, the T-Roc will grab its brother from another mother – the Seat Ateca Cupra – by the collar with 300+ hp coming from a 2-liter turbo’ed powerplant.
Don’t expect too many bells and whistles on the visual front, but there will be elements hinting at the T-Roc R’s inclination towards performance. And in case you’re wondering why don’t they call it the T-Roc GTI, that’s because VW is keeping this badge for hot hatches only.
Above you’ll see X-Tomi Design’s idea of a sportier T-Roc.
In other news, here’s a Volkswagen Golf R sprinting towards 250 km/h.
