Company official confirms high likelihood of it happening

Jaguar may make a performance SVR version of its new i-Pace electric high-rider confirmed a company insider, who also added that additional versions could be created as well.

Autocar quotes Jaguar-Land Rover product planning boss Hanno Kirner, who confirmed that some work has already gone into the idea of an i-Pace SVR. He conceded that if they were to put such a vehicle into production, it’d be focused more on handling than on outright go.

“Yes, we can make it do 0-60mph in 1.8sec. It’s a good headline, but once you’ve done it once or twice, and lost your eyes in the back of their sockets, you might not want to do it again,” said Kirner, concluding that “You also have to make sure you can’t go too fast. I do worry that the instant torque and performance might be too much for untrained drivers.”

Another reason why a handling-focused performance version would make sense is the i-Pace’s already perfect 50/50 weight distribution.

Other versions would be possible too, according to Kirner, like an SVX off-road-focused one or a luxury-oriented SVA variant as well. But if they do decide to go ahead with the creation of these variants, i-Pace SVR will be the first one to be created as it will go well with the I-Pace eTrophy racing car (pictured).
