If Alfa Romeo Made a Spider Model Right Now, It’d Look Like This

Even though it uses a Mazda MX-5 as a base, it’s a genuinely good design effort

The last Alfa Romeo Spider was nothing more than a topless Brera with lackluster handling and the body stiffness of a tomato. It was pretty to look at, but really a front-wheel drive affront to the Spider nameplate in every other way.

Maybe now that Alfa has launched its first large series production rear-wheel drive vehicle, there is some hope for the future. We’d definitely like to see them making something not at all dissimilar to this rendered interpretation by IndavDesign based on the shape of a Mazda MX-5.

Yes, maybe the new Alfa face needs a chassis slightly bigger than that of the Mazda, but even within its size constraints it looks not at all bad. I’d even go so far as to say it’s nicer even compared to the actual Fiat production variant you can actually buy.
