Incoming Chevrolet Corvette C8 rendered in best impression so far

2018 is being talked as the launch year for the mid-engine Vette

After the 2018 Corvette C8 had stuck its nose through the internet's door in the first batches of spyshots, the WWW brought us the much-awaited renderings for the mid-engined coupé.

The latest set of such images comes from Corvette Forum and is based on previous spy photos.

For example, the artist's impression of the mid-engined Vette's rear uses the appearance of a test mule spotted this January. Although the camo attire didn't reveal much, we could still recognize the dual exhausts and devil's horn-style taillight clusters – all of which reappear in the renderings.

By the looks of it, the mid-engined Corvette C8 will sport generous air intakes

Anything else you see on the visual front was pretty much a guess, reflect and imagine, because GM sent heavily camouflaged test mules out in the open and there's not much one could detect, although we could be looking at large front air intakes for aero and cooling purposes.

Recent rumors concerning the engine choice revolve around a pushrod V8 or the new 6.2-liter DOHC LT5 V8 engine that's already been confirmed by GM for the 2018 Corvette.

Elsewhere, our spy photographers caught the 2017 Corvette ZR1 doing its thing on the Nürburgring. Some voices are adamant that this model will hide a pumped up version of GM's LT4 V8 that's currently the weapon of choice for the Corvette Z06 and Camaro ZL1.
